Steps to Write a Book!

Book Writing Tip of the Week:

Spark Interest

Now is a good time to develop your title/headline writing skill. You can use it to title your book well. Is your book title already written? No worries, you’ll need this skill to headline your articles, your web site, your brochures, ads and the list could go on.

An excellent way to develop an engaging title is to arouse your prospective reader’s curiosity. Tease their curiosity and they will pick it up then buy it to find out what it’s about. The infamous “Who Move My Cheese: An amazing way to deal with change in your work and in your life” by Spencer Johnson had a curious title that moved millions to buy.

It stayed on the best seller list for 5+ years selling more than 14 million copies in 40 different languages. If the same book had been titled something like, “How to Deal with Change in Your Work and Your Life”, few people would have been curious. But the Who Moved My Cheese teased readers with an invitation to read or at least pick it up.

Another curiosity title is Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money – that the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon L. Lechter. The title instantly engages your curiosity with the question, “What would I know if my dad was rich?”
