Be kind and considerate with your criticism...It's just as hard to write a bad book as it is to write a good book. Malcom Cowley http://ow.ly/13Sss

Go for Spectacular!

Develop a sizzling title and back cover first

Most newbie book writers stall at this one. They don't realize
a hot title helps the author stay motivated. Writing the back
cover first helps crystallize your book's message. With a clear
message in front, you can write compelling copy that draws your
readers to keep reading.

Solution: Develop a hot title and back cover first to write
tight focused copy that sells. A hot title includes the top
benefit of the book. It is usually short, clear and/or tells a
story.

ones, in the right order, you can nudge the world a little."

Make An Investment In Your Book

Many novice book writers fail to educate themselves about book
writing. If you've never traveled this road before, enroll in a
book writing course. If you have little time, sign up for an
email course to jumpstart your writing. Invest in your book
project by hiring a professional editor to edit your work.

Solution: Invest time to learn about book writing. A client of
mine said, "I want to invest in my work but I have no budget to
start with." No worries; more book writers than you know have
started with a low to no-string budget. Enroll in free book
writing courses. Invest time in learning to self-edit your work
until you can afford to hire a professional.

"At night, when the objective world has slunk back into its
cavern and left dreamers to their own, there come inspirations
and capabilities impossible at any less magical and quiet hour.
No one knows whether or not he is a writer unless he has tried
writing at night."
H. P. Lovecraft

Small Starts Yield Big Results

Inexperienced book writers aim too high. Don't try to fit
everything you know or researched into a one big book. Plan too
big and you may end up with a monster book that turns your
potential readers off. Remember many people in the new
millennium are busy and impatient. They look for short, quick
easy reads.

Solution: Plan a short book first. If you have loads of
interesting information, consider breaking your book into parts.
Even a series of books is better than one large volume in the
non-fiction genre.

Before You Write Your Book, Decide How You Will Publish It

Will you self-publish or shop for a traditional publisher? There are serious pros and cons for either method. Find out the differences so you can make an educated choice that suits you. If you are self-publishing, consider the POD technology for your book or purchase ISBNs, do what it takes to become a legitimate business and become a small publisher.

If you are opting for a traditional publisher, get an agent and a contract before writing the book. Then shop agents and publishers with 2 chapters and a knock-out book proposal. Invest in one of the current market guides and research the best fit for your work. It raises your chances considerably if you know what kind of manuscripts a particular company is looking for.

Forget all the rules. Forget about being published. Write for yourself and celebrate writing. -Melinda Haynes

Write 1 Book Into A Wildly Successful Series!

Write a book and create multiple income streams. Don't just plan a one book event but plan a series of books. It's important to expand your thinking to the possibilities after your book is published. Plan to produce articles, books and updates that help your readers and help you profit from your passion. Each new book or related material will create new profit opportunities, further enhance your visibility and reinforce your credibility as an expert.
