7 Ways to
Accelerate Your Sales with an Ezine!
This may come as a surprise... but email marketing is still
working for thousands of online marketers. A newsletter is
a
great way to stay in regular contact with your web visitors
and develop them into potential customers.
Have you been looking for a way to connect with a fresh
group of potential clients/customers? If you can entice your
website visitors to subscribe to your newsletter, they
instantly become potential customers. With your newsletter
you can stay in regular contact, build relationship,
establish creditability, become a trusted expert and open
opportunities for them to buy from you over and over again.
So where do you begin with developing your own newsletter?
Follow these simple seven steps to increase sales
opportunities with your own newsletter and subscriber lists:
1. Avoid Spamming.
Obey the regulations of the Anti-Spam law. Never send spam
(unsolicited email or unwanted emails.) Make the net a
better place, operate your opt-in (permission based)
newsletter giving your readers full control over whether
they subscribe or unsubscribe. Every email newsletter,
promotion, or informative email should contain a link to
unsubscription opportunity.
2. Choose a professional newsletter for inspiration.
Choose a professional newsletter that inspires you. I am
not
encouraging plagiarism (copying word for word) but merely
creative inspiration. Examine their method of doing things
like layout, categories, even how many times they publish.
If you use something word for word respect another's
copyright don't forget to ask. Most don't mind your
respectful use of their work for it intensifies their
business/product exposure. If you still feel uncomfortable
emulating another's work choose a completely different
field's newsletter that you admire to be inspired by.
3. Develop a Plan.
Devising a plan will save you time in the long run. A plan
will give you organization and focus to amplify your voice.
As with anything, you write much more powerful and effective
copy if you have focus. Decide on a topic or theme and how
often you want to publish your newsletter. Choose a topic
that your subscribers will enjoy. For example, a poetry
site's subscribers may enjoy tips on creative writing. A
hosting company's website visitors might be looking for tips
to improve their website.
4. Choose a List Management Service.
Too many website owners try to manage the subscribe and
unsubscribe requests manually starting out. But they usually
realize that one can go mad trying to keep up with it all.
Automation is the key to effective newsletter marketing.
Start with a professional service. I started my first list
with a non-professional free account.
I started noticing how many of my subscriber's email bounced because
their provider would not accept emails from this service. It had
gotten up to half on some days and weeks. I decided to try the
professional service. My bounces went down nearly 70%. If
you are like most small business owners you are budget
conscious. No fear, most of the professional list management
services offer a free option to start with. I recommend Getresponse.com
or SendFree.com. Click here for
a list of free/fee auto responders to start with.
5. Add Subscription Box on Your Web Site.
Put a sign-up form on every page. Make it available and easy
for your visitors to sign up. Don't forget to test it to
make sure it works. You probably won't get a second chance
with most visitors if it doesn't work. Don't require your
visitors to fill out a long form either. Keep it simple and
you will get considerably more subscribers. Look into the
floating sign-up box or the one-click pop-up to increase
your subscriber rates even more.
6. Plan Your Content.
List your categories. For idea prompters, visit your
inspiration newsletter again. According to the time you have
to invest in your newsletter, you might consider feature
articles and other motivational filler items. For example,
I
own a web design and hosting firm. I promote this firm with
an ezine called Web Wit. The categories are"
• Feature article: 10 Reasons You Should Have a Website
• Website Ad: Why visit Best Arrow Hosting?
• Success Quote: A mind once stretched by a new idea...
• Tip of the Week: Make Your Site Pay - Find a niche...
• Business Tip Blog: Web Coach's Corner - A Computer

• Online Marketing Tip: Web Wit - Don't try to create
a
market. Find an existing market...
• Service/Product Recommendations: We Recommend - Starter
Site
Ideas
• Web Terms Made Simple: Web Bits & Pieces - Web
Page
• Client Testimonials: Good Client Award – Featured

expert..
7. Design a Template.
This is another time saver. No one wants to re-invent the
wheel each time. You may tire and give up if you do. Design
your whole newsletter using a professional template in html
or in a software program called Note Tab Light for a text
email. The point is to compile all your categories and save
your file as a template. Each time you develop your
newsletter start with this template, change the dates and
just fill in the content for each category.
Use the above tips only if you want to fill your potential
client list with fresh prospects and/or build on your
creditability as a trusted expert. I remember when I started
my first list for an inspirational newsletter. I was afraid
of what people would think about my ideas but I started
anyway. I started with 10 people that I called or spoke with
in person asking them to join my newsletter list. They
agreed. By the way, 7 of those were family members. After
many months that 10 grew to nearly 2500. This is a modest
list number to successful online marketers. But 2500 is lot
further than 10, wouldn't you agree.
Ready to build your own list of potential clients that want
your useful information delivered to them via email?
Remember to start where you are. If it’s nothing but
put a
subscription box on your website with a strong invitation,
start today. Put the simple tips above and start building
relationship, increasing creditability and sales all in one
sweep.
